Joseph began his musical journey as a young child. Fascinated by his aunt’s grand piano, he would sit with her and they would play together. He soon got a keyboard, which he used to make his own songs. Then at age five, he began piano lessons.

A few years later in elementary school, Joseph learned to play recorder and then saxophone, and in middle school he began to study guitar and bass. In high school he learned flute and other woodwinds as well. He also began to learn about electronic music and computers, keyboards and synthesizers, organ, electric guitar, and music gear in general.

Joseph attended New York University, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Music Education. While at NYU, he learned to teach band and orchestra instruments, as well as voice. After graduation, Joseph was a classroom elementary school general music teacher. He also has experience with exceptional learners.

Joseph is a seasoned performer in a wide variety of genres and styles, having played everywhere from churches to CBGB’s to large outdoor music festivals. He also teaches eartraining, music theory, composition, and improvisation.

In his over twenty five years as a teacher, Joseph has had the opportunity to work with students of all ages and ability levels. With his diverse array of education and experiences, Joseph brings a fresh and unique perspective to his teaching.
