Max began playing guitar at the age of 12 after discovering a love for music that his parents fostered in him throughout his early childhood. Through artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jim Croce, Miles Davis, Elton John, and many, many others that his parents showed him, he became inspired to start playing and writing music. 

Max earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from the University of Nevada, Reno. During his time there, he quickly became a staple of the Reno music scene, leading his own bands and collaborating with others. Through playing in a wide variety of genres that included jazz, rock, pop, country, blues, and bluegrass, he earned a reputation as a versatile and capable performer. Max relocated to Brooklyn in 2023 and has been performing in various jazz and indie rock projects under his own name, as well as performing in other people’s bands.

As a teacher, Max believes in adapting to the needs of each student to best suit their learning style. The joy of playing music is for everyone, no matter how they learn or what their goals may be. Through learning songs, good fundamentals, and expanding their musical knowledge, Max aims to make music as fun and creatively fulfilling as possible for students of any age or skill level.
